Philosophy weekends and Writer's Retreats

Ascea is on the west coast of southern Italy, 140 km south of Naples. Paestum, Pompeii, Naples and Rome are easily accessible by direct train ride (20, 70, 90 & 180 minutes respectively).

1  Flight to Naples or Rome
Low cost flights from many European cities, as little as €50 return. At times BA is cheaper (and the peanuts and orange juice are free).

2  Airport Bus to Naples Train Station
Alibus - non-stop airport bus from Capodichino airport to Naples train station (Piazza Garibaldi). Buses leave from the concourse just outside arrivals. Tickets purchased from the driver.

3 Train to Ascea (Elea)
Ascea train station is on the mainline from Salerno, Naples, Rome and Milan and therefore no changes are required.

• Direct train from Naples to Ascea: €6.50 one way
• 90 minutes travel time by intercity train
• Check train times at Trenitalia

4 Pick up at station. If you arrive by train we'll collect you and take you to your agriturism lodge (for philosophy encounters) or writer's residence (for the writers, artists and scholars). Drop off on return journey.

By Ferry
Ferries can be taken to Acciaroli (15Km from Ascea) from many places along the Amalfi coast. We provide a pick-up and drop off service. Please enquire.

1. Fly Direct To Naples
Best option if you do not intend to spend time in Rome.

2. Alibus from airport to Naples train station
Special Airport bus to Naples Piazza Garibaldi, direct, no stops.

3. Train to Ascea
Intercity, Naples to Ascea direct €6.50. Just 90 minutes

4. Pick up at Ascea Train station
Someone in a dusty Landrover will come and pick you up. Call +39 0974978005 or call/send an SMS +39 333 108 4326 when the train is leaving Vallo Scalo, the stop before Ascea.
